China Week 2010

Every year our school does a whole week of activities to learn about the culture we are living in the midst of. I love this time to really celebrate our culture. Students come to school dressed in Chinese attire. In Chinese class they have different activities. This year on Monday we had some Chinese Opera Masks Performers, Magician and Acrobats. It was so amazing! Tuesday the students made Jiao Zi which is the Chinese dumpling. Today, Wednesday, we had Shadow Puppets. I had heard of them but never saw it. They turn off all the lights except for some that shine brightly at this screen over the puppet stage. Then they put these very thin brightly colored puppets up to the screen so the color reflects through the lights. Tomorrow is Chinese Know making. So, my students asked me why I wasn't wearing Chinese clothes and so I decided that I would give my 3 shirts a try. This is one of them I had made last year:

It fit so beautifully. Well, I wore my green one just like this blue one yesterday and needless to say I had to unbutton the bottom 2 buttons just to survive. So I decided to try my more loose red one today:

And of course, no photo shoot is complete these days without a side-view baby belly shot, so...

The kids loving looking at my belly when I teach and commenting about it growing. So funny!
