It has begun...Chinese New Year

Along with the China Week this past week our school was in the process of moving. We were not moving into a new school building, we did that last year, but spreading out in the buildings we already had. We had a half day of school and the HS students stayed after to help us move. Here are pictures to document the moving process:

This is the 4th grade teacher in his new room, one floor up.

This is what we had to make all the rooms look like. It was this super schedule where we were literally moving one group out and another in. We moved HS, MS, and a few elementary in about one day.

The first grade teacher moving. For her and her husband (4th grade teacher) this is their first year. They got here, organized their room, and were now moving it.

Our super cheery 1st grade teacher moving her stuff in the hallway while she's waiting for her room down the hall to be emptied. This is what the hallways looked like.

I posted the other day about the China Week at school and this always reigns in the new events for the Chinese New Year. China is huge for fireworks. We tell people from the states that they may love fireworks when they get here but after hearing them over the New Year holiday you may change your mind. We get out of school for 2 weeks for the Chinese New Year, which started the new year sometimes in February, according to the Lunar Calendar. This year Chinese New Year is February 14th. The fireworks officially began today. They run pretty much non-stop from now until the 14th or 15th. They really start to drive you a little crazy near the end. People that blow them off are not professionals either. In fact, tonight we were coming home from our school Chinese New Year Event and coffee and saw someone setting off fireworks straight out their apartment window. Not very safe! But, today was little Chinese New Year which means the noise has officially begun. Here we go Chinese New Year. Happy New Year!

On other new things. JB has started to roll over all the way on his own. Previously he would roll and land on his face, cry and then wait for us to come help him. Now he can fully roll around and then he just pulled his head up a few moments ago. Speaking of, this post was interrupted by the fact that JB rolled so much that he rolled, pulled himself up, rolled again and hit his head off his blanket. :-) We have him for almost 1 1/2 weeks over the break and we are very excited! Our first family shoot with JB, thanks Benny!
