Christmas Eve and Christmas Day have been very busy so far. Yesterday I made the turkey for our Christmas Dinner today and made a pumpkin pie (using my dad's recipe). Nate and I then put the kids to bed and started making sticky buns - a Hagerman/Forrest tradition - but we started really late and we didn't go to bed until midnight. hehe! While we waited the 1 1/2 hours for the sticky buns to rise we watched "Despicable Me".
This morning we woke up and fed the kids. Then we let the kids open the presents from us - a T-Rex figurine for Jachin and a little chicken wobble doll (one of those that won't fall over but just pops back up) for Maddy. We had sticky buns - even Jachin liked them! and then opened the packages my Aunt and Uncle, brother, and parents sent us over skype with my parents. Maddy seemed to enjoy her wrapping paper a little more than the toys and Jachin loved his musical book from my Aunt and Uncle. Jachin got some clothes, a musical book, and a keepsake ornament. Maddy got clothes, baby food, sippy cups, a book, teething ring that looks like fruit, a toy computer, socks, a cute outfit that sounds "bound for NC State" thanks to my brother. Nate got a sweater and the next book in the Robert Jordan series and I got a purse and devo book with a journal. We also got some spice mixes and kool aid.
The kids played and then they napped - and so did we - but before we did we opened our gifts to each other. I didn't get Nate anything because he is getting an eye surgery but I did make him a coupon book. He bought me some black boots and a blender since I am making lots of homemade baby food for Maddy. We then opened stockings and had lots of random things in there.
Now we are hanging out while the kids are napping getting ready for the Christmas Dinner tonight. Part 2 to come...
