Mother Hens in the making

Today my little girls have been such great helpers and I want to write about their little experiences so I can remember them on those days when it gets tough :-)

Madeline is my little helper and Emma is starting to follow suit. Today, I was sitting at my sewing machine working on a sling for baby boy when I heard Maddy yell, "Mommy....mommy?" "Emma, is sitting in baby swing." "Can you come get her?" I assured her that all was well (since it can hold up to 25 lbs.) and she continued to play.

After I showered, I told them to clean up so that we could go "outside cars" to go to the grocery store. I hear little bodies hard at work and then Maddy runs into my room, "Look, Mommy! All done! We cleaned up. Can you move the gate?" (We put up a baby gate when they do room time so that we can let them roam freely in our designated area :-)  ) I took down the gate and said, "Ok. We need to get shoes so that we can go out side cars." Maddy runs to the basket by the door and picks out her shoes and gets Emma's too (because she is the mother hen). I then see Emma waddling behind her with one of my dress shoes. I told Emma, "Thank you for getting my shoes but mommy is going to wear something else." I get to the basket to find that she has picked out one of each of my shoes and they are all spread around the basket. Apparently she wanted to give me options :-)

We got shoes on and everyone in the car and were off to the store.

I love how they make life so much easier some days because they want to help and do contribute. It isn't always as helpful as they intend but on a day when I am trying to do everything for them it is super sweet when they try to pitch in and help this 8 month pregnant mommy out!
