Pressleys in China - Pt. 1

My parents arrived in China on Monday, though they were supposed to arrive on Sunday. Because of their ridiculous airlines - think again before booking with US Airways and China Eastern on cheaptickets - they were denied their flight from NY to Shanghai so it set everything behind one day. We finally got them at the airport here in Shenyang and were told the luggage was already here but then found out that it was in Shanghai. The next day after doing personal searching we found that the luggage never made it on the plane from America - though the attendants at China Eastern swore otherwise. The Shenyang Airport said they'd keep us updated but they did not and through my personal calling 3 times a day to Shanghai we tracked the luggage and picked it up on Wednesday.

Tuesday - Took my parents to Metro, which is like a Sam's club. We bought bulk stuff but most importantly a 5 kg block of cheese.

Wednesday - This was my birthday so we went out with friends to kao rou (BBQ where you cook the meat yourself) and then went to karaoke.

Thursday - Parents had first taste of real chinese food and then we headed a friends for dinner.

Friday - We were going to go to the part but it rained so we ordered Subway and I took Mom and Dad to Carrefour (our type of Walmart) to buy basics. This was their first trip on a public bus. Chicken Enchiladas for dinner.

Saturday - Nate took Dad out to get some pictures of China life and we had lasagna for dinner.

We head to Beijing tomorrow to see the Great Wall and to eat some great western food.

So far they have enjoyed their time. When asked they say "we don't know how they have so many new cars that aren't wrecked" because the traffic is so crazy. I think traffic has been the biggest thing. More to come...
