My AM2PM group is starting a book called "Mama's Got A Fake I.D." By Caryn Dahlstrand Rivadeneira. I just started it this evening, once I put the kids to bed. I read a part about one of the advantages of being a mom and I wanted to write a short blog on it in hopes of 1.It helping me apply what I'm reading to help process it and 2.To be an encouragment in days and times when being a mom isn't so encouraging.
Caryn pointed out that being a mom helps change your perspective and allows you to see things in a new light. Maddy is in a verbal stage right now and she loves to talk. She is constantly singing or yapping away. It is so great to see her discover the world around her and look to me for social cues. Today we went to Walmart to shop and when we pulled in Maddy said, "outside cars, Walmart, mommy." I have never taught her the word, Walmart, but she has picked it up from me saying it periodically and has added it to her vocab. She works SO hard to make a sentence come out the right way and she will try over and over until it comes out to her satisfaction. Tonight while riding home she said, "Look! A Christmas light" for EVERY SINGLE set of lights she saw. It gave me insight into her little brain. She gets so excited about getting in the car or going outside. She giggles uncontrollably when her milk cup makes noises when she slurps it all up. She copies what we say. She thinks the sun is "broken" when it is out but the weather is cold. It's so great to see her becoming the person who God made her to be and I hope and pray I can take each new thing in light of that rather than trying to force her, intentionally or not, to be a carbon copy of me.
