So on Saturday, January 18th we celebrated Emma's 1st birthday. This is the first b-day party we have done for either child in the US. Friday night my parents came and stayed the night so they could help with set up. We decorated the cake that night and the rest waited till morning.

Eating the cake. At first she was unsure but then...
She literally "dove in"
We opened gifts, visited with family and friends, taking great advantage of this being the first party where family has been present, and had hotdogs and hamburgers. It was perfect! Well, perfect would be having our China friends here too :-) I think I was so stressed because it was the first time our family has seen the "mother taking care of the birthday details and doing everything homemade" side of me. I was intimidated but excited to share this with those I love the most. We also played the Korean game of seeing which item she chose (like we did with Maddy) and she chose the pen so apparently we have another academic on our hands :-)
Happy birthday, Emma. One year ago you came into this world after 39 1/2 weeks in my belly and we were worried you would never come. You were our first "normal" size baby. You are perfect in every way and are such a go-getter. You want to do everything your big sister does right now. We love you so much!
