This week we got to go to the hospital where we are going to deliver and get a 4D ultrasound of baby #2. We were soooo excited. I have only seen these ultrasounds but never had one done and it was so amazing. We paid 300 rmb and I laid on the table and got to watch a 45 minute ultrasound of the little one growing in my belly. It was amazing. Most of the first part was done in the regular black and white so they could check on how the baby is growing and developing but the last part was just 4D/3D and we got to see some of these clips below. It was so amazing. The funny thing is that this one looks like Maddy when she was born. We were super excited to find out the gender and after many comments about how small our baby is (apparently they normally do these ultrasounds on 24/25 week pregnant women and not really on 21 week pregnant women) and how I am 21 weeks but the baby is at 20 weeks, they finally told us that the baby was probably a girl and looked very healthy but they recommend us come again in 3 or 4 weeks. Chinese doctors are often shocked with western babies because they are smaller than Chinese ones by comparison so though they thought this baby was small this is just right on track for our babies. Maddy was measuring about 33 weeks when I had her even though we were 35. So we are not worried! The baby is moving more now and last night Nathan was actually able to fell a bit of the movement for the first time. It may be that our lot is to have all girls, oh the irony! We are unsure right now what we want to do. I have an appointment with my regular doctor in two weeks so we plan to meet with him and see what he thinks. We may just get the ultrasound done for fun just for confirmation but we shall see. The doctors really didn't want to put their stamp of "all clear" at the hospital until they measured the baby according to their normal ultrasound time (24/25 weeks). Well, that's all for now. Maddy has learned to say the word baby and will either point at herself or my tummy and say "Ba-by". She is very excited and will be a great big sister.
Please continue to keep us in your thoughts as we figure out what is next for Jachin. We have found a sitter for him so that Maddy and I can have a mini vacation with Nate in Beijing in October and see some other company friends and enjoy some western food. We plan to finish out our contract at the end of October and we still do not have a family yet. There is a couple here working very hard for us so please lift them up as they continue.
