Thursday, July 18th- I received a bill from our internet, Charter, saying that our bill which was originally $29.99 a month would now be increased to $44.99 per month because our year contract was finished. In tears, due to these amazing pregnancy hormones, I called and canceled our internet because 1.) We can't afford $45 for internet a month and 2.) The company's definition of "notice" was writing on a previous statement that the promotional period was over rather than actually informing me of the new price so I could prepare - there is a difference! In a panic, I began to look at internet options and found another that was the same price as our original internet and I set it to turn on on July 26th, when our old internet would end.
Friday, July 26th- Nathan and I both notice that our router from the new company has not arrived. We find out it is in transit in Kentucky so we call Charter and ask for an extended day by day use of internet till July 31st, when our new modem and all should arrive.
Monday, July 29th- Our 7th anniversary! It was a very long hectic day and ended with our router arriving but the internet didn't work. Luckily, we still had coverage from Charter but we had to wait till a technician could come the following Monday so we knew that we would be without internet from Wednesday to Monday.
Tuesday, July 30th- Everything was prepared and we headed out on our Babymoon (a trip, like a honeymoon, one takes before their baby arrives). We left at lunch time and headed to Danbridge, TN. We listened to my book on mp3 as we drove and arrived to a beautiful romantic suite on Lake Douglas. We enjoyed just being able to lay around, watch tv, and not be concerned about little people :-) At 5 we went on a sunset cruise. We headed to Pigeon Forge for dinner and returned at 9 to find cheesecake with raspberry sauce in our fridge (courtesy of the Inn) and we watched another movie and relaxed.
Wednesday, July 31st- Slept in. Ate an amazing huge country breakfast and prepared to head home. Continued listening to my book on mp3 as we drove and felt very refreshed just having a night away with no responsibilities but ourselves. We arrived at home while the girls were still napping and discovered that internet was off. Goodbye connection to the world :-(
Friday, August 2nd- Ultrasound day. We headed to the hospital with kids in tow and eagerly awaited the ultrasound. I will write more about the details of the ultrasound in my next post entitled "We're Having A Boy". We were so excited and headed home.
Monday, August 5th- After a few weeks with my horrible phone that would not allow me to hang up on a call, answer a call or do anything until a few buttons were pushed and you held your mouth right, Nathan decided to get me an early Christmas present, a new iPhone. As I was preparing supper he came home with my new toy and told me I could go ahead and set it up. I called to set it up and they kept declining my credit card....weird! Nathan went to Starbucks and set up the phone there so that we could at least use the 3G until the internet person came, who did come that day but didn't fix the problem. He came home, we put the kids to bed, and we settled down to watch "Identity Theft". Near the end, Nathan joked about what if that was why the cell phone company denied my card. We both kind of laughed and finished the movie. After the movie finished I began to play with my new iPhone. I used the 3G and discovered my credit card had in fact been stolen. My card was still with me but someone in TX had used my number and charged about $2000 worth of clothing onto my card. We called the company and canceled the card immediately and began the process of disputing the charges.
Tuesday, August 6th- The internet guy finally fixed our internet and we are now back in tune with the world :-)
These last few weeks I have been so overwhelmed with all of this and the perfect orchestration of everything fitting together. The irony that the theft happened when I did not have internet so I couldn't readily check. Ironic that we had 24 hours of "getaway" time in the midst of the chaos that ensued. I found myself going to sleep on Monday and focusing on all the bad stuff rather than all the other amazing things that had happened the past 2 weeks. And then it happened...
Last night at Worship Team practice, we were practicing a new song we did last week. Here are the words:
Cornerstone - by Hillsong
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus name
Christ alone; cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Saviour's love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all
When Darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
My anchor holds within the veil
Christ alone; cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Saviour's love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all
He is Lord
Lord of all
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless stand before the throne.
Than Jesus blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus name
Christ alone; cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Saviour's love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all
When Darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
My anchor holds within the veil
Christ alone; cornerstone
Weak made strong; in the Saviour's love
Through the storm, He is Lord
Lord of all
He is Lord
Lord of all
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless stand before the throne.
As we sang that chorus I finally found myself resting in the words of that song. He is the cornerstone when all around me feels chaotic. He is my strength when I am so weak. Through each and every storm I face, He is big enough to take care of me and carry me through. Though my circumstances may say otherwise, He is always in control. Amen!
