Bruce & Danielle's Wedding Shower

Last Friday I took Emma and we headed to my parents' place for my brother's Wedding Shower over the weekend. Emma slept in the car and we arrived in just enough time to pick up my dad at work. We got to my parents' house and Emma started exploring her surroundings. That's how she found the dog cage (pictures in the previous post). On Saturday we went with my mother, sister and niece to buy the dress for my mom to wear in Bruce's wedding. It was so fun. After I put Emma down for nap at my folks' house, I went to help set up for the shower. We had a hollywood theme because some of their engagement pictures were taken in front of a movie theater marquee. Guest arrived at 5 and were given jewelry, hats or headbands with decorations on them. At 6 we ate bbq, hotdogs and hamburgers. Then we ate the cake and had games. We did a "he said she said" game where I find facebook quotes from each member and people have to guess who said what by holding up a mustache or lips sign. Then we played a game I learned in China at our Christmas parties. The host calls out a word and you have two teams competing with coming up with songs that have that word in the line. It was a little tricky to do this with wedding words but we managed and had a great time. Our time ended with opening gifts and a piƱata.

It was so great to celebrate this event with my brother and his soon to be wife and to also have a mini-vacation since I was only responsible for one child. Emma is such a relaxed, chill child (like her father) so it proved to be a great decision. I was able to relax and get involved without worrying about two children. (Thanks to my amazing hubby who watched Maddy.) Nathan and Maddy had a great time together too. It was also nice for people to get to know Emma, who often gets overlooked because she's not as verbal and developed as Maddy. Emma was super flexible (she really is more like her dad than me) and had a great time too.
