As many of you know in July of 2008 my husband and I came to live in China to teach. We have now been here for almost 1 1/2 years, working in our 2nd year of teaching here. Normally we send out updates every quarter or so to update friends and family on what is going on but I also decided to begin a blog so that people can keep track of us even when we are very delayed on our updates. A second reason I wanted to write this is to update others on our status now that we are expecting our first baby. I have many friends who use a blog to update families about their babies so I thought I would do the same, especially since I will be a stay-at-home mom next year. So here we go...
A little insight on the baby to be...
Nathan and I, once we got married, decided that we would wait at least 2 years before we tried to have a baby. Upon arriving in China we decided that we wanted a family and soon. For one year we tried and no baby. In March (about 8 months after deciding we wanted a family) I went to a doctor and found out that I had PCOS (Poly-cyst Ovarian Syndrome). The doctors were not positive but they thought this may cause problems having a baby. We began taking a fertility med in June but when we returned to America for the summer I left the medicine in China. We decided that we'd just have to wait until we could restart. In August we watched after a little boy named JB (a foster child) and were reminded that we really wanted a baby and were asking for the patience to wait until the right time. Things didn't restart so we waiting on taking the meds. Finally in August I began feeling a little off and took 6 pregnancy tests, thinking all would be negative but the last 5 confirmed that we were pregnant. It was better than we could imagine. We told our friends and the gratitude could only be given to the One who enabled live to come from nothing. I write this to give you background and to also provide an encouragement in case there are any people out there who are hoping for a baby and haven't gotten one yet, it can happen! (Not saying that it will because only He knows but if it is His will then it will come in His time.) We are now 14 weeks, just marked our beginning into 2nd trimester. From here on I hope to add little blurbs of things that come into our life.
On another note, we are also fostering a little guy on the weekends who is absolutely adorable! Little JB is our little foster boy on the weekends. There will be many things on here about him as well since he is so special to us. He also has been great practice for our baby to come. It is amazing to me how we first met him and just desired to provide help but now we have truly come to love and adore this little guy. Every smile and giggle leaves us amazed. We shower him with kisses every chance we get.
Stay tuned...
